Understanding
Really useful to have the Learn, Create, Share flowing throughout the day. Live examples working through the day. Lots of opportunity to connect with colleagues to check, clarify and share how this can be linked back to school. I love how Manaiakalani kaupapa first and foremost is based on student learning and achievement and the devices are the tool.
We had some technical issues, although it must have been frustrating for Kerry and Venessa, it is a "real" model of what happens. Some great learning around "incognito" that came from this. I love to see the problem solving and sharing of knowledge between the cohort to try to rectify challenges.
Improvement
The main learning for me was tidying up my emails - they are not all there with 21,000 of them, but I will work my way through. Although the google hangout was not successful due to the wifi, I feel much more confident to give this a go. I have been part of a google hangout, but am yet to set one up.
Next steps for the staff:
- unpack the words "learn, create share" to check in a shared understanding
- refer to the SAMR model (slide 19/20)
- make time to look at google class on air to see "best practice"
Another thing I am thinking about is keeping notes on the blog to be able to refer to notes easily.
Recording the hangout via Microsoft Powerpoint was a new concept - I didn't think about linking powerpoint within a hangout.
Homework is to visit these summer learning journey and record our screen and conversation through google hangout.
Link this to the calendar too as a handy resource.
What could I use?
Certainly a great opportunity to keep my emails more efficiently and effectively. I get so many coming in every day.Next steps for the staff:

Improve confidence and capability.
I think it is important to make time to practice the new learning. If I don't do this weekly, I risk that I will forget too many things.Another thing I am thinking about is keeping notes on the blog to be able to refer to notes easily.

I agree with what you said about organising your emails. I have just organised mine and I feel like now it will help to keep my life more organised and keep me more accountable to complete new tasks.
ReplyDeleteWell done on adding the link in for our google hangout I will see you tomorrow at 5 :)
Kathryn it was good to work alongside you today! Good luck organising your 21000 emails :) You did an awesome job at creating our group hangout.
ReplyDeleteKathryn, Some great reflections. The SAMR model is so useful when planning, especially when looking at ways to integrate technology. There are some great infographics online that you could share with staff.
ReplyDeleteYes the email organisation was a biggie...along with making it look a bit prettier too! Helps to distract from the crazy amount of emails!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder about the 'google class on air'. Must go and check that out too.
All the best for making time to practise all our new learning.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. It is great to hear your thoughts too!
